LATIS

Supporting Innovative Scholarship

LATIS exists to elevate liberal arts teaching, learning, and research. We’re a team of highly-skilled, liberal arts-first experts that are passionate about the college mission and driven to help faculty and students succeed. We specialize in the technologies that are critical to liberal arts disciplines, and we strive to provide services that help faculty, students, and staff be innovative in their work. You will find us working one-on-one with PIs, teaching workshops for both researchers and instructors, facilitating college-wide process improvement initiatives, connecting people with experts around the U, managing the computing infrastructure needed to run entire departments, and distributing CLA’s internal grant funding. Our services also support units outside CLA, including the Carlson School of Management and more. It is our job to foster a culture of innovation and make the U a place where faculty and graduate students can do their best work.

College Knowledge Library

Zoom - Meeting or Webinar

Zoom's Meeting and Webinar environments have many similarities, which make them easier with which to get comfortable. However, there are some important distinctions. This College Knowledge Article provides information to aid in choosing the correct option for your particular event.

NOTE: The comparison and use-case charts were taken verbatim from the University of Michigan - the content was so good, adjustment was not needed.

Digital Arts + Sciences and Humanities (DASH) Collaborations

Meet us at the intersection of scholarship, teaching, technology: digital arts sciences + humanities. Your project--whether in the incubation stage or already partially underway--will be aided by consultation with software, pedagogy, and online design experts.

Research Computing Resources

Server resources are available that provide remote access to applications and high performance computing assets in both Windows and Linux environments. Access is available to faculty, staff, and graduate students. Access to undergraduates is available when requested by faculty for either research or instructional needs.

Process Analysis and Mapping

Process analysis is critical when changes are desired or when consistent problems arise with work processes that are affecting the success of teams, offices, units, etc. Our staff is experienced in the use of techniques to analyze processes and identify opportunities for efficiency, prepare for staffing changes, or basically any kind of modification or improvement.
